A little bit of crafting...

When I started this blog, it was a space for me to share my 'creating' ... and sadly, not much of that has been happening lately... but in the last week or so a little more has happened - and it takes me to my happy place when things are a bit on the tough side lately...

more sock monkeys... this one is now much loved by a special wee boy

a journal cover for a special friend....

crayon rolls....

sewing for the school carnival (imagine this tripled by three!!)

and Ive done a bit of touching up on the side bar of my blog - did you notice?

Does creating give you a sense of peace?  Leave me a comment, I need the bloggy love at the moment!

This week, the top thing I'm loving has to be having my hubby back in NZ for a week and being together as a family. (although not too sure how Im going to cope with him going back next weekend!)

Softies for Christchurch.. finally an Update

kiwiatheart

Well I haven't forgotten about the Softies, things have just been super busy around these parts.

After a huge number of softies arriving there was a bit of a lull and then they all started arriving in full force again.  You should see our living room!!

A HUGE thank you to everyone who has taken the time to create one or in most cases, several beautiful softies.

On Friday I will be taking them to Auckland to go on the courier to Christchurch.  Don't worry if yours is a latecomer, I am happy to forward on any others that arrive.

I will post some more pics soon!! promise!!

And I will let you know about their travels to their new homes.

a milestone birthday

Today I am 40. Asking for a recount... don't feel 40.
Yep I'm that old that all my baby photos are in black and white.

I had a lovely day yesterday with the bloggy girls and will catch up with some more life long friends in a couple of weeks.

Its a weird birthday... doesn't seem right without my hubby here to share it.. but nothing is 'normal' in our lives at the moment.

Anyway, Happy birthday to me. I'm going back to my dairy free, gluten free, fair trade chocolate bar.

For the love of Bloggers

Ask yourself.. how far would you go to meet the famous Whangarei bloggers?

Haha!! just kidding .....

BUT we had another brilliant catch up today and we were all so delighted to meet Jennifer (and her family) from Little Kiwi Chick, all the way from the USA.

It was a picture perfect day here in Whangarei and bloggers descended upon the town basin with kids, cameras and cakes in tow.

It was great to get together again with Jacksta B, Sima J, Neetz, Renette, Tracy, Liz, Becky and we also were excited to welcome Arna-Lise to our bloggy group and of course Jennifer.

Laughs were had

birthdays were celebrated

real life meet ups were had.

Photos were snapped

feminine hygiene products were swapped...
wait a minute, feminine hygiene products? ....yep, its the hardships that go with the life of a blogger... reviews.

A lovely morning, thanks girls and we missed you PJ!!! It is so wonderful to spend time with these girls who were bloggy buddies, but now are REAL LIFE FRIENDS.

Tea Towel Swap

I have a bit of a love affair with tea towels...and Ive seen a few tea towel swaps around the Blogsphere....

Is anyone interested in doing a Tea Towel Swap?

There's heaps of cool tea towels out there... they don't weigh much to send... you don't have to be crafty to participate!

Leave me a comment and if there's enough interest I will get one organised... we'll make it world wide too..so we can get them from far and wide...

The Chicken Whisperer

Applications for real friends (without feathers) now being received.

Well you all thought that my new role was taking over KMB..   it seems my parent's feathered friends have different ideas.
You see, Kia and Ora (the chickens) have taken a liking to me, and its very amusing.

Ora

I enjoy feeding them and changing their water, collecting their eggs... and it was me who SET THEM FREE!!!

They have a lovely coop ‘The Chicken Inn’ but had been banished from the garden for their ‘hell-raising’ antics with some certain vegetables.

I felt a bit sad seeing them cooped up (pun!)  ... so one day I set them free... and now they are very happy chickens...free ranging in the day and then they put themselves to bed at night.
But it seems they have become a bit attached to me...so much so, that when I go outside and head towards the back of property they stop whatever bit of dirt scratching or worm eating they are doing and run (fast) over to me!! They are in such a hurry they even try to fly (comical!)... and very sweet. They follow me around like little puppies. And I never ever knew chickens did that!

I have recently finished reading Wendyl Nissen’s A home companion and it is a FANTASTIC MUST HAVE book – JUST LOVED IT. But I particularly liked her commentary about her chickens.
I never thought of me as a chicken person.... definitely a cat person, definitely not a dog person... but a chicken person – really!?
So I am hoping wherever we end up living, we too can have chickens and hopefully I can have some real friends too J
