Letter writing kits for children

When I first started blog reading in 2009, this lovely blog inspired me to start my own blog.

Recently Mel shared a post about making letter writing kits.

My girls have made friends with two very special girls in Australia and want to keep in touch via good old fashioned snail mail. We decided to use the tutorial and make some letter writing kits to gift their special friends.

In their favourite colours of course..

We stamped some blank envelopes and paper with some cute stamps we bought at Typo

We added a pen and there's a little pocket for postage stamps.

I really love encouraging the idea of writing letters and I hope I will be more encouraged to do so too.
There is something quite special about opening up the mail box to a REAL letter!!!!

I loved having pen pals when I was little and I love the way you are encouraging your girls to write letters- such a great skill to have especially in a day when we delete and reformat all our writing on computers.

Just love this idea. Letter writing is becoming a thing of the past - and I agree there is nothing nicer than receiving a REAL letter in the postbox :) What a great gift you have made. xx

This is an awesome idea and they look so amazing! I wanted to give some stationery kits as presents for my daughter's friends last year and went hunting for some. No-one seems to stock them anymore, and what is available is not particularly suitable for 7-9 year olds.

Gorgeous ! I love snail mail and am looking for more penfriends via my latest blog post! (worldwide including New Zealand.)
Leanne M if you are in NZ try the $2 shops for writing pads and envelopes ; Warehouse; Kikki K has cute pads for $16.90 with a stack of pages. And the $3 Japanese shop just up from The Civic in Queen Street has gorgeous little sets too. I And Paper Plus has new pads and envelopes too. I have an obscene amount of stationery and write letters most days :)

Oh, what a lovely idea! I still have some old letters that my cousin and I used to write to each other - WELL before email's time! It's hard to find letter writing sets around now! I love the idea of hand printed paper. In fact, tomorrow I think I'll pop in to Typo myself...

I really should do more writing. Amelia has started writing to a little pen friend and it is so nice to see the joy he recieves from a letter.
